Emanuele Vernillo is Head of the three-year training programme in Creative Documentaries and Arthouse Filmmaking at ZeLIG – School for Documentary in Bolzano, where he has taught since 2010.

He holds a degree in Development Anthropology and graduated in Film Editing from ZeLIG. He has maintained a long-standing collaboration with Italian director Pietro Marcello — working as location sound recordist and head of post-production on The Mouth of the Wolf, as assistant director on The Silence of Pelesjan, and as general organiser on Bella e Perduta — films selected and awarded at the Venice Film Festival, the Berlinale, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Turin Film Festival, among others. He has also worked with directors such as Abel Ferrara, Alina Marazzi, Stefano Savona, Enrico Oldoini, and Angelo Loy. He serves the Bolzano Film Festival Bozen as print traffic manager and programme assistant and is a member of the European Film Academy.

He has been writing poetry in Italian for some years now. He writes in Italian, at the intersection of image and word, silence and gesture. This space is where that work lives.
